What is Craniosacral therapy (CST)?
CST supports regulation of the nervous system ~ specifically the vagus nerve and allows conditions resulting from stress and trauma to resolve. It enhances the body’s natural healing processes to let go of the negative impact of life’s pressures – mentally, physically and emotionally.
Our bodies are the stories of our lives ~ holding tension and imprints of memories. Our facia and muscles contract when we hold tension, in order to protect us. However, after the event has passed, the holding becomes unnecessary and starts to affect our health, causing pain and anxiety, poor posture, headaches and sleep disturbance. Relieving tension and strain from the tissues around the cranio sacral system fosters a feeling of calm and improves wellbeing, including digestive, respiratory, circulatory and skeletal systems. It is an effective treatment for helping people with a wide range of health challenges associated with pain and dysfunction.
CST is an effective treatment for newborns and children of all ages. Newborns often carry patterns of birth trauma, resulting in a fussy baby, colic, reflux and muscle strain. A gentle treatment can relieve discomfort and help baby adapt to their new environment.
How does it work?
Using a light touch, the therapist notices the rhythm and pulse of the cranio sacral system ~ the fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord. This is a subtle rhythm, that comes from the soft narrowing and widening of the skull along with the faint lengthening and shortening of the spine, as the fluid circulates from the head (cranium) to the tailbone (sacrum). The therapist, through palpation, discovers where tension lies in the system and aims to bring it back into balance.
As well as calming the nervous system and relieving pain, many clients have regular treatments as a protective measure to encourage a heathy immune system and to clear toxins from their body. Often, people who struggle with ongoing conditions , such as migraine, anxiety, vertigo or hormone related issues, report that regular CST treatments help them to manage their symptoms, leading to a more enjoyable and fulfilling life.

Coaching is a method of guiding a person from where they are currently to where they want to be. It involves working in partnership with a client to set goals and priorities ~ a transformative process leading to positive change in their life.
What we believe about ourselves is often rooted in childhood and the patterns of thinking that we have built over time. These may be beliefs about how we performed at school, what our peers thought of us, how our relationships make us feel, what our boss says about our work. Simply, we can become what others think we are or should be!
As a Life Coach using neuroscience, I invite clients to become aware of these beliefs, their potential, their abilities, qualities and experiences. I encourage a client to notice their blind spots and the stories they tell themselves. Self-awareness leads to change, to letting go of old patterns, to living fully and taking steps to reaching their goal.
